so you're saying i have to speak the language to go on a vacation in any country? that might be a bit tricky

How are you supposed to function without speaking the language they speak in the country you visit

so i posted something on my friend's facebook from a tumblr and this girl that i really don't like must have thought this tumblr was me and then this happened

now i know you've probably never been out of the country but i have been in a lot of places where english is not a native language
in fact i live in one of those countries and i'm telling you, at least 90% of the people in every country i've ever been to speaks english

And what about the ten percent that doesn't hm

you move on and ask someone else

how hard is that

What if that person doesn't speak English
What if the only person you have to talk to doesn't speak English and you can't just move on

what scenario would that be

also, you don't really ask around that much
nothing is too hard to figure out yourself and if you need to find something out you go to like a tourist information center or to the hotel reception

we go out of the country at least once a year
this year we've been two times and we're going again before the year ends
and i'm not trying to brag or make you feel bad or whatever i'm just being honest
but that has never happened
i'd say more than 90 per cent of the population speaks english
see it's why i speak english so good

there was this one lady who didn't speak a word but she could understand me so she had to use her body language but that wasn't too difficult either

Uh no I'm not being stupid I'm being the only smart one because apparently I'm the only one who believes in learning languages besides English

well you're insinuating that i should learn the language of every country that i happen to have a weeks vacation in

if i go to spain, sure, i do speak spanish and i would there, and if i go to japan i speak the little i can and if i go to finland i speak the little i know there, even though i don't have to because they actually do speak swedish there

but otherwise no, i'm not going to learn every language there is just because i might go on vacation

because that IS stupid

It is stupid to go to a country and not know at least SOME key phrases
