NOPE. Louis built Versailles because he wanted to be able to keep the nobility in line. They already didn't have to pay taxes (which pretty much ended up causing the Revolution later down the line, along with the rest of the problems that Louis himself left behind) and they constantly had been revolting against him and wanting more independence. Louis therefore built the palace where ALL nobles would have to stay for at least a few months a year. They therefore were under his watchful eye and got caught up in palace intrigue, isntead of real plans to take over his reign haha.

And the reason that he wanted to keep the nobility in line so much was because of the Fronde, which was when he was a little kid and the nobility revolted and took over. He and his mother were snuck out of Paris in a carriage and he had to hide until the uprising was quashed. From then on he hated Paris (therefore creating a new, shimmering city away from it, and avoiding working from Paris for the rest of his life) AND he had a quest of NEVER letting the nobility get enough power to revolt like that again.

Maybe when Katharine confronts me about my vexation towards her I will proceed to insult and mock her in French and use as many Rs as I possibly can
